Each e-book comes with a story dictionary offering word definitions that are easy for kids to comprehend and helps with the context of the story. As they read, kids will watch the words highlight and can touch individual words to hear them pronounced. Your child will learn and enjoy reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, word building, and interact with animated characters. Princess Nagger wasn’t very enthusiastic about this feature, which is understandable based on the higher level of reading she’s currently at, but it will definitely benefit Little Dude based on the website’s description: There’s a built-in e-reader which is especially great for the younger set, since the stories come to life through interactive, animated e-books that offer story narration, character voices, animation, vivid graphics, sounds and music.
The videos can be watched anywhere, and can be downloaded and played back on the InnoTab. It even works as a video camera – kids can record themselves, friends and family at any time (just be forewarned – you could have a little paparazzi on your hands with this).
There’s a built in program that allows them to save and edit the photos using super funny and wacky special effects, stamps and more – she was giggling hysterically playing around with that feature. The new InnoTab 2 comes with a rotating camera, which Princess Nagger thought was really cool, because she can easily take pictures of herself and of her friends. She was only slightly disappointed that she didn’t get the girly pink version of the InnoTab 2, but as with everything else, color doesn’t matter and she happily embraced the white/blue/orange one: They have such cool toys that are not only sturdy and fun to play with, but educational as well. VTech has been a constant in Princess Nagger’s repertoire of toys, even from infancy. Then when she had a chance to help Little Dude figure out the VTech MobiGo 2, she was looking forward to – and very excited to recieve – her very own VTech InnoTab 2: Luckily her DSi XL and her Kindle Fire took over her penchant for pestering – mostly. I had to start hiding my tablet if I ever wanted to make sure I’d keep grimy fingers off of it for any length of time – that way I could make sure it was available when I needed it, and still actually have some battery power left. It was fast turning into an expensive gaming tablet. Sure enough, once the battery was fully charged, Princess Nagger persistently pestered me to ‘try it out’ – and promptly downloaded games she loves to play. Especially when I saw the gleam in Princess Nagger’s eyes as I unwrapped my gift. When the hubby bought me a Tablet for Mother’s Day last year, I had a feeling that I wouldn’t be the only one enjoying the benefit of having a tablet.
